Install the Mobile Access Runtime software
Install the Mobile Access Runtime software on the same computer that hosts your IWS project runtime server.
Before you begin this task, Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) must be turned on on your server and the required ASP.NET features should be selected. The Mobile Access Runtime software installer will try to confirm that Microsoft IIS is turned on, and if it is not, it will abort the installation. The installer cannot confirm that the required features are selected, however, so you should confirm that yourself before you begin this task. For more information, see Turn on Microsoft IIS for thin client access.
The Mobile Access Runtime software is an add-on for Microsoft IIS that makes it possible for other computers and mobile devices to access the Mobile Access web interface. You do not need to install the software on your own computer in order to develop IWS projects that include Mobile Access; the necessary tools are always available in the InduSoft Web Studio development environment. However, you do need to install the software on the computer that hosts the InduSoft Web Studio project runtime server, whichever computer that happens to be.
There are two ways to install Mobile Access Runtime. First, you might have selected it as an installable feature when you installed the full InduSoft Web Studio software. If that is the case, you can skip the rest of this task. For more information, see Install the full InduSoft Web Studio software.
Second, you can use the separate Mobile Access Runtime software installer (MobileAccessSetup.exe) to install it after the fact. To do this:
- On the computer where you want to install the software, make sure that InduSoft Web Studio is also installed and Microsoft IIS is turned on.
- Locate the Mobile Access Runtime software installer at in the InduSoft Web Studio folder at C:Program FilesInduSoft Web Studio v7.1BinMobileAccessSetup.exe
- Run the installer and follow its instructions.
To confirm that the software was successfully installed, run your IWS project and then try to log on to the Mobile Access web interface. For more information, see Log on to the Mobile Access web interface.
If the web interface fails to load — that is, if the Mobile Access Logon screen is not displayed at all — use IIS Manager to confirm that your web server has started and the Mobile Access application pool (StudioMobileAccessPool) has been configured to use .NET Framework version 4.0. For more information, see Turn on Microsoft IIS for thin client access.
